UGC STRIDE Component – 1 Project:
The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the Scheme for Trans-Disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy (STRIDE), a new initiative to promote quality research by students and faculty. It promotes an innovative culture for trans-disciplinary research, especially in colleges and universities. It supports the creation of new knowledge, improves the quality of doctoral research and inculcates innovative and cognitive thinking.
STRIDE supports the below innovative research projects:
- Socially relevant
- Locally need-based
- Nationally important
- Globally significant
Objectives of STRIDE Scheme:
- To strengthen research culture, identify young talent, promote innovation, build capacity, support trans-disciplinary research relevant to national development, and enhance society’s overall well-being.
- To fund impactful national network projects in the identified thrust areas in human sciences, humanities and Indian knowledge systems.
The college had conducted a UGC STRIDE Component 1 project on "Vedic Education System in Kerala - A Comprehensive, Scientific, Interdisciplinary Analysis".
The five projects delved into various aspects of the subject, such as the study of Vedic oral tradition, its preservation, transmission, and unique characteristics. The project encompassed one Major research Project and five minor research projects within the Indian Knowledge System.
Major Project:
Philosophy of education in the Vedic education system of Kerala – A comprehensive analysis
Minor Projects:
- Survey on the Present Vedic Education System in Kerala
- Holistic Development of Students in Vedic Education System in Kerala: An Experimental Analysis
- A Case Study based on the Vedic Education System of Kerala
- Computational Analysis on Vaidikasvaras
- Historical Development of the Vedic Education System in Kerala
Five academic programmes are also included in UGC STRIDE Component 1, two programmes on research methodology and three other programmes like seminars, workshops or conferences related to the Indian Knowledge System.
