Department of Economics

The department of Foreign Trade commenced in the year 1999. From 2004 onwards, the name of the course is changed to 'BA Economics with Foreign Trade'. The change of name was to facilitate the students who seek admission in B.Ed course. This is the first college imparting a UG course in Foreign Trade under the University of Calicut. The scope of the course is immense. The department bags ranks almost every year. The department has a separate community in the Orkut,' Foreign Trade VTB College' and has a blog for students' counseling and guidance for Higher Education and Employment.

Highlights:

Classes are conducted with the help of Laptop with Internet facility. Books and journals are distributed in the department. Four Dailies are subscribed to the dept namely The Hindu, Business standard, Business Line & Indian Express. General reading materials like periodicals, Employment news, Mathrubhumi Thozhil vartha, and Women's Journals, Mathrubhumi-weekly etc. are distributed.The department also subscribes the journals like Southern Economist(ISSN0038-4046), Kurukshetra((ISSN 0021-5660),Yojana(ISSN-0971-8400) Kisan world(ISSN 0971-9229) etc. Every year a project work is conducted. The class PTA is convened in the alternative months to discuss the problems of students with their parents. It is common platform for the parents and teachers to interact.
